Success in FameLab competition: Miguel Gonzalez Ximenez de Embun won the second prize
Our colleague Miguel Gonzalez Ximenez de Embun from the Institute of Entomology, Biology Centre CAS, won the runner-up price on the science communication competition: FameLab Final of the Czech Republic. CONGRATULATIONS!
In the FameLab competition contestants have three minutes to present a scientific topic. Miguel made a presentation called “Aliens are not that far” and introduced a subject of his research - parasitoids. If you want to know more check the video bellow from 1:00:25
FameLab 2021 Czech National Final took place in CIIRC at CTU on Sunday 19 September. JURY of experts: Marie Vanišová-Rodinová (biologist, FameLab 2011 finalist), Michael Londesborough (chemist and science communicator) and Jan Klusák (physicist, FameLab 2012 national winner) were focusing on the scientific content, clarity of presentation and charisma of the presenters. The national winner FameLab 2021 Czech Republic became Oldřich VOJTA (Faculty of Technology, Tomas Bata Univerzity Zlin).
The FameLab competition aims to support young scientific talents. Today, it is one of the most important competitions in the popularization of science in the world. In the Czech Republic it is organized by the British Council.
